It's quite funny to read that people living ANYWHERE in South Essex have a high opinion of where they live.

It's a bit like saying, 'this turd of mine smells a little bit better than that turd of yours.'

Essex. Avoid.

If I could choose between towie cunts or hipster cunts I'd have the towie cunts. At least they don't think they're superior

Only person I know from Leigh is a twat I used to work with who looked like a young Rolf Harris and never stopped talking shit. For some reason he was a big Leicester fan, so I'm happy I never have to see him again.

The only time people moan about an area's nightlife is if they went there once and never pulled.

Re: Leigh on sea
Is this just Leigh? I find all town centres are pretty much an alien environment at night now. Gangs of orange, scrawled on, modified people cackling, tottering, swearing and pissing their way through another mess of an evening. Seems a combination of chunks of the population becoming ever more excruciating, shallow and dis-likeable, while I get older and less tolerant of aggression and idiocy.

Fish and chips and messing around on the beach before an afternoon beer or two sounds just fine. Ploughing on and pretending to enjoy lurid shots at Mayhem before breaking up a fight between women who carry their shoes and men who can barely spell the women's names on their necks? Just cannot see why it's anyone's idea of a good time.

Re: Leigh on sea
Went for a night in Southend last week and it was a nightmare. We could not get in anywhere. 'Sorry already too many people from Canvey in here'. Got turned away from about four places all saying the same thing before we finally got into some club which was ok. Only four/five of us and we are about as threatening as one direction. Strange reasoning.

A night in Leigh is like a scene from Towie. Quite cringe.

Great for a day out near the mud. Not sure about living there.

Re: Leigh on sea
I've lived in Leigh for 12 years now and couldn't agree more with the content of the article. The title is a little dramatic. I used to live off the Broadway which at the time I thought was great. Near to all the pubs and restaurants. After about a year, and the twelfth time of asking some pissed yobs to fuck off out of my front garden as they were having a piss after the pub and not having anywhere to park in my own road I moved down the other end towards Hadleigh Castle. I don't go out in Leigh very often as it is everything as described, but Old Leigh is ok in the winter.

Leigh-on-sea. Memories.

The unmistaken glorious smell of the Thames estuary

The Cockles sheds and the vinegar and the pepper.

The Peter boat on a Sunday lunchtime with me old Dad followed by a leisurely stroll to Chalkwall.

Lovely old Essex memories.

The car dealers with their mobile phones on the bar, huge things back then.
